Graston Technique for low back pain
Usually with a chronic case of back pain there is a large muscular component that needs to be addressed to fully resolve the lower back problem. Dr.McKay
studied the Graston Technique to help relieve the muscle aches and pain associated with a bad back. Here is how it works. The covering of the muscle is called fascia. It is a thin but highly nerve innervated connective tissue. The fascia becomes thickened when undue stresses are placed upon the muscle. The fascia becomes irritated when it’s thicker surface rubs against other muscle and connective tissue. The fascia develops what are known as adhesion’s which prevent normal motion furthering your back pain. Graston is a method of removing painful adhesion’s allowing the muscle to go back to it’s intended purpose of moving and supporting bone.
Cupping for Low Back Pain, Sciatica, Bulging disc
You may have noticed Olympic athletes with some funny round marks on their bodies. Those funny round marks are a result of a soft tissue technique called cupping. It is an Eastern Medicine concept that is now main stream here because it works really well. Here is the scoop on cupping for back pain. The vacuum created on the skin’s surface over the affected muscle pulls the blood through the muscle. Think about the last you exercised and felt sore muscles the next day. Well the soreness comes from the breakdown of glucose ( muscle fuel ) and it gets stuck inside the belly of the muscle. Now when a low back muscle has a chronic strain on it the gunk pools in the muscle preventing it from working properly. The cupping creates a vacuum and forces the gunk out of the muscle relieving back pain. This really works great.
Cold Laser for Back Pain, Stenosis, Herniated Disc
Cold laser also known as low level laser therapy uses a process called photobiomodulation to aid in pain reduction. We have been using low level laser to reduce lower back pain for several years with great success. We feel that by adding services to our Chiropractic practice we can deliver faster results when treating touch cases of sciatica, bulging discs, and pinched nerves. The laser acts on mitochondria to ramp up production of ATP the cells fuel source. The extra energy allows for speedier healing. When you have a bad lower back you will want Cold Laser Therapy to help it heal faster.
